Not a bad place for BBQ. I have been here 10+times and have done take out as well. Ribs and chicken are good but the beef brisket is where it's at. Oh the the corn bread muffins are more like cupcakes without the frosting..yum. Unless your from the deep south, in which case this is nothing like corn bread. Still good though. Recommended place to eat overall.

Good ribs. Ok prices. Nice atmosphere. Would've given four stars if my feet wouldn't have stuck to the floor everywhere I walked

I had Famous Dave's takeout for the first time on my last trip to the twin cities. Being from a bbq stronghold like NC, I was a bit skeptical but open-minded. I had the catfish tenders with beans and mac'n'cheese. Wow, what a surprise, MN has pretty good bbq! I haven't tried their traditional bbq offerings, but the beans and catfish were well seasoned and delicious. I look forward to trying some of the pulled chicken and pork offerings on my next trip.

I heart Famous Dave's. My husband is a lover of great BBQ, and he loves this place. The ribs are amazing, sauce...to die for!

I agree I like Famous Daves but this is just an OK Daves location. The one thing I use to judge is the ribs. I've had ribs at Famous Daves where the meat is so tender it is falling off the bone when you pick it up, and I've had ribs where you have to chew it off the bone. You have to chew it off the bone at this place. If you want real good barbeque, check out Cap's Grille in Minneapolis. Now this place is really something special.

The wife and I had the Texas style beef brisket. It was okay but lacked good flavor and was kind of dry. If I had a choice I would go to dickeys every time.

OK, so we all love Famous Dave's food--it's pretty darn tasty. But can you explain why a salad with a few chicken strips on top and an iced tea is over $15? HUH? Nice atmosphere and the servers are pretty friendly.

Fun, rustic decor. Casual (jeans) dress. Wonderful, fast service. Good BBQ choices. 6 BBQ sauces available at every table. The roasted chicken is fall off the bone tender and has a wonderful seasoning. Save room for dessert. Desserts are exceptional! Prices are moderate; plan on $10/person. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a slight misunderstanding tonight in our order, and the manager could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Famous Dave's will be a regular stop for us.

Had the "Burnt Ends" they been advertising, maybe these are popular in other parts of the ountry, but it's a one time buy for me.. Nothing to crave about them. Way too sweet, hard to eat all of them. Sounds better than it tastes. "Dark secret" LOL there's a reason it was a secret...

As Dave's quality goes this location is fair at best. Their Seventh St. Location in Highland Park, St. Paul is MUCH higher quality consistently. Well worth the trip over from Apple Valley (10 minutes) The Apple Valley store is very...well...."Franchisey" (Don't really care what's on the plate) They are OK and we go there seldomly. But there really is a disconnect between the employees and food quality we think. (Like all franchises) If you like real Bar B' que, go to Ted Cooks' or Rudolph's in Mpls. ('course you'll be in Mpls. so yer automatically risking your life) But if you want the real thing...that's where it's at! Dave's is barely OK.

I get takeout from this Famous Dave's twice per month. My food has always been done on time and everyone there has been extremely friendly and professional. This is my first-ever online review... it's worth it just to give recognition to their great service.

Me and my wife had went to the Eden Prairie location a couple of days prior so when we, along with my daughter were in Apple Valley we stopped in here for lunch. It is pretty much the same as that or any Famous Dave's. Their brisket is good, their burgers are good, heck everything is good including the service. The only thing I found different with this location over the Eden Prairie one was this one was a bit higher priced but not enough to make me avoid it.

Umm, the only cold meat I eat is deli meat. My side of coleslaw was tasty, but the red-skinned garlic mashed potatoes tasted (and looked) an awful lot like baked beans. Texas brisket was cold on delivery to the table. We quickly ate our sides and got to-go boxes for the rest so we could bring it home and microwave it. First ever visit to this location. Thought it would be nice since we live nearby it now. Guess we'll still be driving almost an hour to a different location that has consistently been good. Of course the Rack Shack is close by too, and always tasty.

I asked a friend of mine, Jeff, if he wanted to go to Famous Dave's this week. He said sure. He asked me if I get their emails. He said they always have coupons. I asked him if he gets their emails. He said Yes, everyday. Lol! So, I took his advice and signed up to receive their daily emails. Later that day they sent me a coupon for a free sandwich. Five o'clock comes around and it's time to pick up my friend, Jeff. Jeff hops in the car and off we go to Famous Dave's. We arrive at about 5:45. At Dave's, they take your order at the register and you pay right then. I put an order in for the Cajun chicken sandwich with french fries and an unsweetened iced tea. That's all I wanted because i knew it would be more than enough. The lady said I have to spend at least $5 to use the coupon. I overheard Jeff order the mac and cheese so I also opted for a side of that. That along with my iced tea was enough to use the coupon. You can never go wrong with the Cajun chicken sandwich. The remoulade sauce is what makes the sandwich. Grilled chicken breast with crispy onion strings, pepper-jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles are included. The sandwich is colossal sized. I knew I would only eat half of it there and take the other half home. The mac and cheese is another story. Famous Dave's is known for their famous barbeque and not their mac and cheese. I guess the cooks think adding pieces of jalapeno peppers would help their beginner mac and cheese? Not really. To me, it tasted like a 99 cent frozen macaroni and cheese from your local grocer's freezer. Yuck! If I had to do a blind folded taste test between Famous Dave's M&C and Kraft Easy Mac, Kraft's Easy Mac would take home the gold for sure. If you're in the mood for mediocre bbq or a Cajun chicken sandwich, sign up for their emails, print your first free sandwich coupon, then come eat. Be prepared to spend a minimum of $5 even though it says free. If you think you need a side of macaroni and cheese here, think again.

I previously reviewed this place back in 2012. I finally took a chance, went back, and ordered 1lb. of brisket to go and asked for the most lean meat they could find. When they were preparing it I heard the person who took my order repeat my request to the cook, who asked her "does this look lean enough?" I felt this time I was getting my money's worth. I could just smell the BBQ in the air. Happy with my request, I took my $20 meat and $10 coleslaw back home and took a peek. Just as bad as before, maybe worse. if you picked up a slice of brisket it would sag under the heavy weight of fat - not just around the outside but within. I tried putting the meat back on the grill to melt off some of the fat, but it just ended up burning. The fat was so thick it just sat there bubbling and smelling. Yuk. In the end I got just enough for a 5" sub and it was still fatty and now had no taste. Won't ever go back. Worst value in meat of any place I have ever been. If you like eating pure BBQ fat maybe this is the place for you. What a ripoff.

Our family reunion always uses famous Dave's and has always been great every year. Been taking care of our family and freinds for many years. Kinda of prices high but worth the detail on for large groups

Very unprofessional! I placed a catering order worth over 240$, when I called to confirm my order they had no record. Worse yet they blamed it on me saying I must have called the wrong store. They were very short and dismissive with me on the phone. Angered by the customer service I called back to cancel my order and was immediately hung up on. Never giving this place another dime! With customer service this poor I doubt it will be too long before this place closes down like the Burnsville location.

Husband and I went for an early dinner, 5ish, restaurant nearly empty. Guy that took our order was wearing rainbow colored reflective lens sunglasses (the restaurant is not bright) which I found a little unprofessional. It has been a good year since we had been there, but the menu just seemed "different" and the prices higher. We ordered (I always get the rib tips basket) and husband said he'd take the same. I thought the cashier said "brisket" so I said again rib tips. What a surprise when sunglass guy brought out brisket to the table, he put it down and before I could say anything he was gone. Honestly, I was distracted from what was on the plate because of the change to white rectangular plates from baskets...looks like Famous Dave's is trying to get "fancy". I don't like that. We told his coworker we ordered rib tips and she said she would get them and let us keep the brisket, she was perfectly friendly and apologized. Believe me, the brisket is nothing to write home about...both very fatty and incredibly dry at the same time. I ate one bite and pushed it aside to wait for my rib tips, which is what I wanted anyway. My complaint is that sunglass guy came *over to our table and confronted us that we had ordered brisket*. He was not rude necessarily, but somewhat insistent... it made us feel put on the spot and was awkward. Won't be going back...

You have to judge things with context. Considering the choices nearby, I'm glad we have a Famous Dave's to fill our BBQ craving every now and then.

Love it. Great chow, good sauces and priced right. Service has has been great when we dine in but take out is a weekly norm.

I got some kind of platter with a sandwich and a side. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The pickle it came with was incredibly spicy (that said, I'm weak). The Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwich wasn't as good as I had hoped, but I didn't see Carolina pulled pork on the menu and was kind of hoping for that. I'll probably have something different next time. I don't think the lunch special (at least for what I ordered) was anything cheaper than the regular menu.

Getting cheap. Famous Daves use to include corn on the cobb with every dinner. They no longer include this and you have to either pay extra to get the additional corn on the cobb side, or use one of your two side choices to pick what use to be included. While cutting back they have also managed to raise their prices. Paying more and getting less. We only go here once per year because they are charging too much for what you get. The quality of the ribs are hit or miss. They can be good, but they can also be chewy and under cooked.
